Church Update

I have often wondered what it would have been like, to be one of those two weary travelers, traipsing down a dusty road headed from Jerusalem to Emmaus.  As they discussed the recent events, their eyes revealed the sadness of their hearts.  A stranger approached them and, joining their conversation, inquired as to the reason of their sadness.  They told him of the One whom they thought was the Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth, and how He had been crucified.  They revealed to him their astonishment as they had learned that friends had found the sepulcher empty that very morning.  Imagine their amazement as the stranger, beginning with the writings of Moses, expounded to these men all things in the Scriptures concerning Messiah.  Later, after He had shared a meal with them and strangely disappeared, they realized that He was their Risen Lord.

What was the response of these two followers of the Lord? We read in Luke 24:32, “And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?”

This passage has repeatedly come to our minds as we have considered what we should call the church plant in Kingsbridge.  We are excited to share with you that we will be starting Emmaus Road Baptist Church.  As Christ did with those weary men on the road to Emmaus many years before, our goal is to be opening the Scriptures and revealing Christ.

Housing Update

We are heading back to NYC at the end of this month to search for a house in between meetings.  Please pray that God would guide us to the home He has prepared for us, so that we can close on it and be ready to move in once deputation is finished.

Deputation Update

Recent meetings have taken us to California, Washington, and Minnesota.  We praise the Lord for several new supporting churches.  We are now over 90% of our goal, and we are praying for five or six more supporting churches to help us hit the 100% mark!
